Dress – here // Earrings – here // Purse – here
Last weekend, my boyfriend and I left the city for a trip to Charlottesville,VA. This is one of our favorite places for a getaway (I’m working on a travel guide that I’m so excited to share this week!). The weather was absolutely perfect, which gave me a chance to take this chambray one-shoulder dress for a spin.
I loved this dress – the one shoulder ruffle and cinched waste were so flattering, and it was so simple to throw on for travel and still look chic! The best part is that the chambray is the softest, and I felt pulled together and comfy all day! At $35 this is such a steal. Scoop this bad boy up here before it goes out of stock – trust me, you’ll be wearing this one all summer long.
Before this season, I’ve had the same trench coat since college, and it was AMAZING. I scooped it up at a vintage shop in Cleveland one day for I think $12, and it was literally perfect. Perfect weight, perfect details, such a flattering shape… I would have been content to wear it forever.Until, that is, last spring, when I just painted my nails and was late for work ad grabbed the trench, only to smear bright purple marks all over the shoulders. Insert monkey hands over eyes emoji.
A few weeks ago I went on a hunt and ordered two, and I thought I’d review!
I was convinced that I would love this Banana Republic Trench. I typically love their clothes, especially office-wear, which I feel like trench coats fall into. This trench was $198 (I got it on a 50% off sale), in the tan color. Even in an extra small, this trench was WAY too big. Even tying the belt up behind me didn’t really help. Also, it was unlined and super lightweight, which I wasn’t a huge fan of. Although, the blush pink color is to die for!
Enter this $60 Old Navy trench. This coat in Clay Mate is the perfect tan color, and has all the quintessential trench details. Pretty buttons, a back vent (also with a button), and it’s the perfect weight for spring. This is coat that will keep you warm in 50 and 60 degree weather, and look effortlessly chic and lady like. I also love that it’s lined with a pretty white and light blue striped lining! Right now it’s 30% off with code MORE.
Guys, spring has finally started to kinda-sorta-maybe arrive in DC. Last week was the cherry blossoms (photos to come!), which is always one of my favorites times of year. So of course, all of this has had me doing some spring shopping. I did a Loft haul last week, and got some amazing pieces that I’ll post about soon, but this grey, lacy, drawstring tank has got to be my favorite!
I wore this around on a walk my boyfrend and I took yesterday through one of our favorite spots in DC, Meridian Hill Park. You guys, this top is PERFECT for spring.
Disclaimer – the color in real life is a true grey, even though it looks purple-y in the photos. But the lace is stunning in person. The way it falls is so, so flattering, and I can see wearing this again and again throughout spring and summer. I have it paired with regular denim here, but seriously how perfect would this be with white jeans and shorts? This is one of those pieces that you throw on in two seconds and automatically feel ladylike. I can’t recommend it enough!
Stay tuned to see what else I scooped up at Loft!
